Banking on Individuality
The fashion moguls, fortune tellers, marketing analysts and pop culture scholars may have missed mentioning this in their forecast for the year 2009 but then again, the craze over attitude shirts which made a cross-over from the year 2008 is probably too obvious that it goes without saying. Several shops that sell these talking tees have sprung up all over and they cater to whatever taste; be it nationalistic, loyalty to one’s alma mater, naughty, nasty, flirty, funny or simple.
An interesting observation is that some of these shirts are not actually made from the best quality if materials yet they still sell like hot cakes. Apparently, people buy them primarily for the inscriptions, not the style or the comfort or the quality of the material used, although these things still matter. A lot of people, especially the young ones seem to enjoy basking in the attention the statement shirts call for. The shirts have become literal fashion statements and proofs of character.
This simple trend in clothing has a deeper implication relevant to any enterprising individual. The message is clear: any product that gives one an outlet of their individuality will do insanely well in the market. The attitude shirts and the band shirts are just the beginning. One could do so much more with random items like bags, note pads, mugs and tumblers. There is so much wit and personality to express; the possibilities are endless.
